Thursday 14th January 2016 Bird Sightings

Lelant Saltings – Birds at high tide this morning viewed from The Old Quay House Car park included: SPOONBILL, 2 Sanderling, 78 Dunlin, 8 Grey Plover, 2 Bar-tailed Godwit, 12 Oystercatchers, 60+ Teal, 2 Greenshank, 34 Ringed Plover, 18+ Redshank, 4 Little Egret.IMG_4543

The SPOONBILL was seen from the old railway platform at Lelant mid-afternoon before flying into Carnsew Pool. A Common Gull, 3 Med Gulls, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits  and 2 Greenshank were also present. On the main estuary male and female Goosander were on the main channel this afternoon. Also present were: 7 Rock Pipit, 180+ BH Gull, 87 LBB Gulls, 116 GBB Gulls, 18+ Redshank, 45 Curlew, 60+ Wigeon, 79 Lapwing, 6 Golden Plover, 13 Shelduck  and 38 Carrion Crows. (P.Freestone)
